Report: Turkey says may launch gas hub in 12 months
ANKARA, Jan 27 (PRIME) -- Turkey hopes to launch a gas hub in a year, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez told newspaper Star on Friday.
"There is no gas trading center in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe,” Donmez said.
“The countries of the region, which we are in contact with, approve this gas hub project as well. I hope we can launch the gas hub in a year."
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ordered the governments of both countries in 2022 to work on creation of a gas hub in Turkey swiftly and in detail. The hub could be used to transfer transit of gas from Russia's Nord Stream pipelines to the Black Sea region, and Erdogan thinks that Europe could receive Russian gas through Turkey.
